Morganite and aquamarine: two very special gemstones

The mighty array of natural gemstones that occur in Sri Lanka never ceases to amaze us and it’s always a source of inspiration to create our jewels. That is why Ceylon was called ‘The Island of Jewels’ in ancient times. This time, two new precious stones have fascinated us: morganite and aquamarine. As well as other prized gemstones such as emerald, both are two different varieties of the same mineral called beryl. Beryl is highly appreciated in jewellery since early times due to its bright natural colours. Morganite’s pale pink and aquamarine’s crystal blue glow as the core pieces of our latest jewellery designs.

3

Morganite (so-called ‘rose beryl’) was discovered in the early 20th century and today is one of the most sought-after gemstones in the world. Due to its delicate pale pink, this gem has been strongly identified with love. In fact, morganite is also known as ‘Pink Emerald’ or ‘Divine Love Stone’. However, its natural colour ranges from pink to orange hues such as peach. Morganite evokes tenderness, warmth and romance, so it is a perfect choice as a gift for our most beloved one. The colour of the morganite combines perfectly with the orange tones of our ‘Tourmaline emerald earrings’, with natural tourmalines.

4

On the other hand, aquamarine receives its name for its soft crystalline blue colour, which reminds us of the beauty of the sea. It also evokes the blue tones of the iconic Ceylon sapphires, very present in all our collections as in our classic ‘Baguette drop earrings’. This gem is also known as ‘Sailor’s Stone’. It is March birthstone and it’s been related to the zodiac signs of Gemini, Libra, Pisces and Aquarius. Its soft blue colour and clarity make it one of the most appreciated gemstones in jewellery. This precious stone is considered to have the ability to clear the mind and reduce stress. It is also believed to calm emotions and clarify feelings. Aquamarine radiates peace and it is perfect for creative and dreamy people.

The engagement ring: a meaningful jewel

The engagement ring is a timeless jewel, full of meaning. Its huge sentimental value turns it into one of the most important pieces of our jewel case. Nowadays, more and more couples decide to share the experience of choosing the engagement ring together and customize it to be a unique piece. There is not such a thing as ‘the perfect engagement ring’: it depends on the style and personality of the future bride.

6

Our engagement collection is inspired by the splendour of the colonial past of the island of Ceylon which is the essence of our jewellery firm. Its exoticism is blended with our fascination with Art Deco and the aesthetics of the roaring 20s to create contemporary jewellery with a vintage touch. In our engagement collection you will find rings for any type of brides: from traditional cuts, such as the emerald cut for the most classic brides, to vibrantly coloured gemstones for the most alternative brides.

7

As all our jewels, our engagement rings are handcrafted by master artisans using natural precious stones from Sri Lanka. The beauty of these precious stones is the soul of all our creations. Each gemstone we feature is unique and unrepeatable, and therefore each of our rings is one-of-a-kind. From the famous Ceylon sapphires to the dazzling vintage diamonds, or the zircon and the tourmalines which add a touch of colour to this classic jewel.
